Egypt needs to "awaken its political system" by revitalizing political parties and enabling them to play a more effective role in representing citizens, proposing policy alternatives, and presenting qualified candidates for public office, Moussa wrote on his Facebook page.
His remarks came a day after El-Sisi directed the government to prepare a national program for local council elections and expand space for political parties and political dialogue.
Moussa asserted that strong political parties and an active political landscape are essential to ensuring the state's stability, strengthening social cohesion, and preventing political vacuum or instability.
He described local council elections as the natural starting point for this track, calling them a cornerstone for building a genuine political life, a training ground for future leaders, and the closest link between citizens and local decision-making.
He also urged state institutions to act swiftly on El-Sisi’s call by taking concrete executive measures.
Moreover, Moussa stated that holding local council elections is a constitutional obligation and that the country's executive authority bears responsibility for carrying it out.
He noted that moving forward with the elections would mark the beginning of a new phase in Egypt's political reform process while reinforcing public confidence in state institutions and the country's future.
During the inauguration of the headquarters of the State Strategic Command in the New Capital on Saturday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi directed the government to promote objective media dialogue that embraces diverse viewpoints, saying such an approach would enrich public debate and foster greater public awareness within a framework of mutual respect and understanding.
El-Sisi also instructed Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan to coordinate with the relevant press and media bodies to hold an annual conference, tentatively scheduled for 3 December each year, to assess the state of Egyptian media, discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, and issue practical recommendations to support its continued development.
