Sun 12, 7pm: “Mamluk Cairo Between People and Stone: A Critical Reading of the Novel Atfet Al Hamam” seminar will discuss Atfet Al Hamam (Al Hamam alley) novel written by Amir El-Qurashi.
The novel will be discussed by Gamal Abdel-Rahim, Professor of Islamic Archaeology, and the discussion will be moderated by Heba Safi El Din, Professor of Architecture and Design. El-Qurashi is a Professor of History Curriculum and Instruction at the Faculty of Education, Capital University (formerly Helwan University). He has authored numerous academic works on teaching history and heritage.
Atfet Al Hamam is a famous historical alley in the Al-Gamaliya neighborhood in Fatimid Cairo, from which El-Qurashi drew inspiration for his novel published by Dar Alam Al-Kutub.

opens its doors to reading and culture enthusiasts of all ages. The fair features a
rich programme of events and enriching cultural seminars and discussions.
The cultural programme taking place on the sidelines of this — which runs
from 6 to 20 July— is rich and diverse, featuring 410 events, with the
participation of more than 1,000 speakers, prominent thinkers, writers, and creative figures in literature, arts, and sciences from Egypt and various countries around the world. The programme also includes 21 additional events and seminars at BA’s Beit Al-Sinnari in the Sayeda Zeinab district, Cairo and Princess Khadega Palace in Helwan. Late gifted filmmaker Dawoud Abdel-Sayed is remembered in this year’s edition as the programme is comprising several events highlighting his artistic career. Thurs 9 - Sat 11 (free admission): ComixAndria (Alexandria International Comics Festival) returns for its fourth edition bringing together comic artists, writers, publishers, and comic book enthusiasts from Egypt, the Arab world, and beyond, in celebration of visual storytelling and comics.
The festival continues its role as a platform to support young creators in the Arab world by providing an opportunity to showcase their work, exchange experiences, and build bridges within the comics community. The programme also offers a diverse range of exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and cultural events that open new horizons for learning and creativity. This edition will host French cartoonist Golo (Guy Nadaud) and Egyptian artist Dina Mohamed, with the festival presenting exhibitions of their latest comic book works, highlighting their experiences and artistic styles. The festival is providing an open space for dialogue, exchange, and creative collaboration.
