Egypt to raise Bahariya Oasis archaeological sites ticket prices from October

Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) on Thursday approved significant increases in ticket prices for archaeological sites in the Bahariya Oasis, set to take effect on 1 October.

The decision was approved during the SCA's board of directors’ meeting, chaired by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy at the ministry's headquarters in the New Capital.

Under the new pricing structure, tickets for foreign visitors will increase from EGP 100 to EGP 400, while tickets for foreign students will rise from EGP 50 to EGP 200.

Meanwhile, ticket prices for Egyptian visitors will increase from EGP 10 to EGP 40, while ticket prices for Egyptian students will rise from EGP 5 to EGP 20.

Bahariya Oasis, located in Egypt's Western Desert about 370 km southwest of Cairo, is one of the country's most significant archaeological destinations. 

It is best known for the Valley of the Golden Mummies as well as several ancient temples and archaeological sites that continue to yield major discoveries.
