The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on developments in Somalia as well as regional issues, particularly in the Horn of Africa.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's full support for Somalia and its national institutions, stressing Cairo's commitment to the country's security and stability.
He also renewed Egypt's firm rejection of any attempts or measures that could undermine Somalia's territorial integrity, including any recognition of the self-declared Somaliland, describing such moves as a violation of the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Egypt has consistently backed Somalia's sovereignty and opposed any unilateral steps affecting its territorial integrity, a position it reiterated following the January 2024 memorandum of understanding between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which Cairo said contravened international law and threatened regional stability.
For his part, Ali expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's continued political, developmental and security support.
He praised Egypt's consistent backing for Somalia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, affirming Mogadishu's commitment to maintaining close coordination and consultation with Cairo on bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern to promote security and stability in the Horn of Africa.
