Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher
The visit comes at the invitation of Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler.
Zaher is scheduled to meet Güler and several senior Turkish military officials to discuss expanding military cooperation between the two countries' armed forces across various fields.
Zaher’s visit comes two weeks after General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, chief of the Turkish General Staff, led a high-level military delegation to Cairo for the fifth meeting of the Egyptian-Turkish Military Cooperation Committee on 27 June.
Bayraktaroğlu met Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, and the two officials signed the committee’s final protocol, outlining joint activities to expand military cooperation and the exchange of expertise.
The Cairo meeting followed a visit by Turkish Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu to Egypt in February, during which he held talks with his Egyptian counterpart on expanding cooperation and coordination between the two air forces.
Military engagement has accelerated further through a series of joint exercises.
Earlier in July, Egypt and Turkey also launched the Golden Eagle joint exercise at Egyptian Paratroopers and Thunderbolt Forces training grounds, focusing on coordinating operational concepts and exchanging tactical expertise.
Egyptian and Turkish air forces concluded several days of joint training at Egyptian airbases on 21 June, involving advanced multirole fighter aircraft and joint sorties.
Later that month, Egyptian aircraft participated alongside Turkish and Azerbaijani forces in the Anatolian Eagle 2026 exercise in Turkey.
