Barcelona said 25 players reported to the club's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training complex for medical examinations before the squad resumes training on Tuesday.
"After medical tests on Monday the squad will begin training on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva with Hansi Flick beginning his third season as Barça boss," the club said in a statement.
The 18-year-old cut short his offseason break after helping Egypt reach the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Egypt's tournament ended with a 3-2 defeat by Argentina after surrendering a two-goal lead, although the team's performances earned widespread praise during the competition.
Barcelona announced in late June that it had exercised its option to sign Abdelkarim permanently from Egypt’s Al Ahly following an impressive loan spell with the club's reserve side.
"The Egyptian forward will join the club on a permanent basis and will sign a contract for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2029," Barcelona said on its official website.
Abdelkarim, the first Egyptian player to join Barcelona, scored six goals in 11 appearances for the club's reserve team during his loan spell.
