Minister Gomblat made the remarks during a meeting with the chairpersons of ministry-affiliated companies specializing in ammunition production at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.
“Developing the ammunition production system and maximizing the use of manufacturing capabilities are key priorities during the current period,” Gomblat said.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of ammunition supply contracts, production rates, and ongoing manufacturing operations at the affiliated companies.
Officials also discussed measures to improve operational efficiency, increase production capacity, and ensure that different types of ammunition are delivered to the Armed Forces according to agreed schedules and technical specifications.
Gomblat said the ministry was seeking to make better use of its industrial and technological capabilities and its specialized workforce, while maintaining strict standards of quality and precision.
“We stress the need to comply with the highest standards of quality and efficiency throughout all stages of production,” he said.
The minister added that the ministry was advancing the state’s policy of strengthening local manufacturing by localizing modern technologies and increasing the use of domestically produced components.
“We attach great importance to deepening local manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports,” Gomblat said.
He described the development of ammunition production as a strategic pillar for strengthening domestic industry, achieving greater self-sufficiency, and enhancing the state's ability to meet its defence needs through a strong national industrial base.
The meeting follows a presidential review of Egypt's military production and defence industry plans in April, during which President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called for strengthening state-owned military production companies and expanding their capacity to meet the Armed Forces' requirements.
El-Sisi described the companies as playing a “pivotal role” in developing Egypt’s military industries. He also directed officials to increase local manufacturing rates, modernize affiliated factories, improve operational efficiency, and establish strategic partnerships with international defence companies to acquire and localize advanced technologies.
Egypt showcased several results of that localization drive at EDEX 2025, including the locally manufactured Rad'e 300 guided rocket launcher, the Sina 806 armoured recovery vehicle, and domestically produced armoured steel used in tanks and combat vehicles.
