Upon his arrival in Turkey, an official reception ceremony was held, including an inspection of the guard of honour, while military bands played the national anthems of both countries.
During the visit, Zaher met with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation, particularly in the fields of training and the transfer and exchange of expertise between the Egyptian and Turkish armed forces.
The two ministers also chaired a high-level bilateral meeting, which concluded with the signing of a Letter of Intent to enhance defense cooperation between the two sides.
On the sidelines of the visit, Zaher visited the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, where he laid a wreath at his tomb.
The Egyptian defence minister also met with the President of Turkey's Defence Industry Agency to discuss cooperation. He was briefed on the agency's advanced manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
Additionally, the President of Turkey's Defense Industry Agency and the Director of Egypt’s Military Intelligence Authority signed a Letter of Intent to support cooperation in defense industries to enhance regional security and develop the two countries' joint capabilities.
Zaher also visited the headquarters of several leading Turkish defense industry companies to review their latest military technologies and equipment and discuss opportunities for cooperation that would strengthen the exchange of expertise in military manufacturing between the two nations and support efforts to promote regional security and stability.
