The Odyssey – film
The Odyssey is screened across Egypt's cinemas starting Thursday 16 July
This film adaptation of Homer’s Ancient Greek epic follows Odysseus’ journey and struggle to overcome mythical obstacles in order to return to his kingdom Ithaca and reunite with his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.
The Odyssey is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland and Matt Damon.

El-Sahel El-Sherir is a comedic play that offers social commentary on the clash between what is referred to as Sahel El Tayeb (Good Coast) and the Sahel El-Sherir (Evil Coast). Tensions erupt when two families of different financial backgrounds find themselves vacationing together in the same luxury compound.
The play is directed by and stars Ashraf Abdel Baky, alongside Ahmed Abdel Wahab, Karim Afifi, Caroline Azmy and Ebram Samir.
Umm Kalthoum Puppet Show

El-Sawy Culturewheel Puppet Theatre reenacts Umm Kalthoum’s live performances. The theatre troupe mimics the Arab diva’s singing and the movements of her orchestra players.
El Sakia first brought Umm Kalthoum to the stage in 2006 and has continued ever since.
The show is directed by the performance's founder, Mohamed El-Sawy.

The National Theatre continues to stage a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's King Lear, starring veteran Egyptian actor Yehia El-Fakharany in the title role. The production offers a bold reinterpretation of Shakespeare's tragedy while preserving its exploration of power, family and betrayal.
Directed with a modern theatrical vision, the play gives audiences the opportunity to rediscover one of Shakespeare's most enduring works through a performance anchored by one of Egypt's most celebrated stage and screen actors.
Klaxiks – music

Klaxiks, an a cappella ensemble, will perform at E&D for the first time.
The group creates music using only the human voice, blending harmonies, beatboxing, rhythm and vocal textures to recreate the sound of a full band without the use of instruments.
Founded in late 2010s by Dalia Ihab Younis, Klaxiks has introduced Egyptian audiences to contemporary a cappella through performances that reinterpret popular songs with intricate vocal arrangements, offering a distinctive live music experience.

Tamer Ashour rose to fame as a singer with his debut album Saab (Difficult) in 2006 which featured his breakout single Zekrayat Kedaba (Lying Memories).

Syrian singer Al-Shami joins Lebanese singer Mohamed Fadl Shaker for a concert blending contemporary Arabic pop with romantic ballads.
Al-Shami has risen to prominence in recent years with hits such as Sabran and Ya Leil W Yal Ein, while Mohamed Fadl Shaker, son of veteran Lebanese artist Fadl Shaker, has been building a career with emotionally driven pop songs and live performances alongside his father.

Egyptian singer-songwriter Shereen Abdo, affectionately dubbed the "Sultana" by her fans, is one of the leading voices in Egypt's folk and alternative music scene. Known for her powerful vocals, she reimagines traditional Egyptian heritage and Sufi chants through contemporary arrangements that blend jazz, rock and electronic music.
She will be joined by Basheer, a musician dedicated to preserving the rhythms, poetry and musical traditions of Upper Egypt (Saidi). Together, they will present a concert that bridges Egypt's rich musical heritage with modern sounds.

Founded by Soha Mohamed in 2019, the all-female troupe is dedicated to reviving Egypt's rich musical heritage through traditional folk songs, and percussion.
The ensemble performs with instruments such as the tabla, duff, tambourine, occasionally supported with musicians performing on rababa and mizmar, while reinterpreting songs rooted in Egyptian folklore.
Since its formation, the group has gained widespread recognition, performing at venues including the Cairo Opera House, the Grand Egyptian Museum, El Sawy Culturewheel, the Goethe-Institut, the Spanish Cultural Centre and the International Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts.
