The Cairo giants are rebuilding following a disappointing campaign, reshaping both its squad and coaching staff.

Ahly have signed winger Aqtay Abdallah and midfielder Ali Mahmoud from Enppi, while Moroccan coach Ammouta has taken charge of the team, succeeding Danish manager Jess Thorup.

As part of their pre-season programme, Ahly will play two friendly matches later this month.

The Reds will face El Nasr SC on 23 July before taking on La Viena FC a week later.

Eight international players are set to rejoin the squad after representing their countries at the 2026 World Cup.

Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Mohamed Hany, Emam Ashour, Marwan Attia, Yasser Ibrahim, Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" represented Egypt while Youssef Belammari featured for Morocco.

Egypt's World Cup campaign ended with a 3-2 defeat to Argentina in the Round of 16 after surrendering a two-goal lead, although the Pharaohs earned widespread praise for their performances throughout the tournament.

Ahly finished third in last season's Egyptian Premier League and ended the campaign with only the Egyptian Super Cup, falling short of winning any other major domestic or continental trophies.
