Speaking to Asharq Business with Bloomberg’s Weekend Cairo, Wagih said the expansion would increase the service’s operating capacity and provide faster travel between major destinations, particularly during the North Coast's peak summer season.
The expansion follows the launch of Air Taxi Egypt in October 2025 as the country's first integrated helicopter taxi service, with announced investments of approximately EGP 5 billion.
The project is a partnership between Abu Dhabi Aviation and TCM Economic Consulting, the consultancy arm of Prime Egypt Group, with the participation of the Egyptian Air Force.
TCM oversees feasibility studies, commercial operations, marketing, and expansion, while Abu Dhabi Aviation provides fleet management, operational, and training expertise.
At the project's launch, Wagih said four Leonardo AW139 helicopters were in operation, with plans to expand the fleet to eight. The initial fleet reportedly includes eight- and 12-seat helicopters in standard and VIP configurations.
The first phase was based at Almaza Airport in Cairo and covered destinations including the New Capital, Sheikh Zayed, the North Coast, El Gouna, Siwa, New Valley, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, and Aswan.
Air Taxi Egypt currently operates in two principal areas: regional business and leisure travel linking Cairo with destinations such as Alamein, El Gouna, Hurghada, and Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as sightseeing flights over Greater Cairo and Egypt’s historical landmarks.
Its tourism services include the “Soaring Above History” route, which offers aerial views of the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, Saqqara, Dahshour, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. A separate City Tour focuses on Cairo’s modern skyline.
Air Taxi Egypt CEO Mohamed Seif earlier described the operation as “an exclusive, on-demand, private, and semi-private short-haul aviation service” targeting customers for whom “time is money.”
The company offers two service categories. VIP Class targets senior executives, official delegations, and missions requiring greater security and privacy, while Comfort Class is designed for families and luxury leisure travellers seeking to avoid road congestion and conventional airport delays.
"The service doesn't just transport people, it also gives them their day back," Seif said.
The company says it operates under the supervision of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority and in coordination with the relevant state authorities. Passenger documents must be processed in advance, while ground transportation is coordinated with flight schedules to allow travellers to move directly from their vehicles to the aircraft.
Bookings are currently arranged through telephone lines and social media channels. The company plans to launch a dedicated application and introduce a “by-the-seat” system that would allow individual passengers to reserve seats on scheduled services without chartering an entire helicopter.
At launch, indicative fares ranged from about $200 for shorter Cairo sightseeing flights to as much as $1,500 for longer intercity routes.
A flight from Almaza Airport to the New Capital was priced at approximately $300, while the Almaza–Sheikh Zayed route cost about $350. No updated fares accompanied the latest expansion announcement.
The company has said its longer-term plans include expanding its approved routes and landing infrastructure, developing packages with hotels and resorts, and partnering with major cultural, tourism, and business events.
In April, Abou Ghaly Motors also launched Sky Cab in partnership with Air Taxi Egypt and TCM, combining helicopter travel with coordinated ground transport for business travellers, tourists, and VIP customers.
