The Cairo-based club said the new deal will keep the 29-year-old at Ahly for a further three seasons.
"I am grateful to the club and the supporters, to whom I owe a great deal," Taher was quoted as saying on the club's official website after signing the extension.
"I will continue to give my best alongside my teammates to bring joy to the fans and help the club win the trophies and victories befitting Ahly's stature," he added.
A versatile attacker capable of playing on either flank or through the middle, Taher has proved a valuable option for Ahly, making an impact both as a substitute and when called upon to start despite not being a regular in the lineup.
Taher joined Ahly from Arab Contractors in July 2020 and has since made 213 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing 27 assists.
He has won 17 trophies with Ahly, including three CAF Champions League titles, three Egyptian Premier League crowns, and two CAF Super Cup trophies.
