Hassan's release clause stands at around £10 million ($13.5 million), Konur said in a post on the social media platform X.

The figure marks a sharp drop from an earlier valuation after Real Oviedo's relegation from La Liga altered the club's negotiating position and forced a markdown on one of its most valuable assets. 

Hassan drew attention from European clubs after a series of strong displays for Egypt at the World Cup, notably in matches against Australia and Argentina. He started Egypt's 3-2 loss to Argentina and set up Mostafa Zico's second goal following a counterattack led by Mohamed Salah, in a game that also featured a disallowed Egyptian goal that drew criticism of the officiating. 

Former Napoli coach Antonio Conte named Hassan among the tournament's standout lesser-known players, alongside Morocco's Bilal El Khannouss and the Ivory Coast's Emmanuel Agbadou, in comments to Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Celtic have been the most active of the interested clubs. British media reported last week that the Scottish champions were close to a deal worth about £7 million for the winger after an earlier bid of around £3.4 million was rejected by Oviedo.

Oviedo sporting director David Fernandez said the club would retain control over any transfer, although the Spanish side is understood to need funds following its relegation.

Marseille entered the race after Celtic's opening offer was rejected, while Trabzonspor had already made a move for Hassan during the winter transfer window, offering six million euros guaranteed plus two million euros in add-ons and including Ukrainian forward Danylo Sikan in the proposed deal. Oviedo rejected the offer, considering Hassan too important to the squad to sell at that price.

Hassan has indicated he could leave Oviedo this year. "I haven't spoken to anyone at Oviedo yet, but I have one year left on my contract, and nobody is untouchable at a club like this," he told The National. "Football is a business and, at my age, I think I can bring in some money for the club. But I don't know what will happen."

Any transfer would also involve a payment to Villarreal, Hassan's former club. Villarreal hold a 40 percent sell-on clause from the 2024 deal that brought Hassan to Oviedo.

Hassan, who has five caps for Egypt, joined Oviedo from Villarreal in August 2024 and is under contract until June 2027.
