Handball: Egypt’s Ahly with Fuchse Berlin, Zamalek could face Barcelona as Super Globe draw announced

The draw for the 2026 men’s Super Globe (Club World Cup) was announced on Wednesday, with Cairo giants Ahly placed in Group B, while rivals Zamalek have a chance of advancing to Group A.

Egypt will host the 10-team tournament from 24 September to 1 October, with matches taking place at the New Capital Hall.

Ahly will be participating in the prestigious event as hosts following their Egyptian Handball League title win; meanwhile, Zamalek will participate via a wildcard invitation from the International Handball Federation.

According to the draw, Ahly came in Group B alongside Kuwait’s Burgan, Germany’s Fuchse Berlin and finally the Winner of Hungary’s Veszprem and Australia’s Sydney Uni.

Reigning champions Barcelona of Spain, who claimed the 2025 edition title, which was also staged in Cairo, came in Group A with Brazil’s Pinheiros, Morocco’s Forum Derb Sultan (representative of Africa) and the winner between Zamalek and Los Angeles of the USA.
