According to a statement by the EFA, Zamalek and Pyramids FC will compete in the CAF Champions League, while Ahly and ZED FC are set to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zamalek secured their continental license after successfully resolving all pending FIFA cases. The White Knights will participate in Africa's premier club competition as Egyptian Premier League champions, while Pyramids FC qualified as league runners-up, making their fourth consecutive appearance in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Ahly will participate the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the domestic league standings last season.
ZED FC will make their historic maiden appearance in continental competitions after finishing as runners-up to Pyramids FC in last season's Egypt Cup final.
New appointments at EFA
The EFA board also decided on Saturday to appoint Egypt’s former coach Shawky Gharib as the new technical director of the EFA. The 67-year old former Egypt coach will succeed Alaa Nabil who held that post over the past two years.
Meanwhile former international referee Essam Essam Abdel-Fattah was appointed as head of its refereeing committee; succeeding Oscar Ruiz, a Colombian former international referee and lecturer who left the job recently.
