In an official statement published on its Facebook page, the Cairo giants revealed that the 25-year-old player has signed a three-year contract, becoming the club's fourth signing of the current summer transfer window.
“Essam Serag, head of transfers, travelled to Croatia to finalize all financial and administrative procedures in coordination with football director Wael Gomaa,” the statement added.
While Ahly did not disclose the financial details, local reports indicate the deal costs the club approximately 3 million euros.
Bakrar, who began his football career with Algeria's ES Sétif, joined the Croatian side in 2025 from American club New York City FC. During the past season, he made 42 appearances for Zagreb, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists.
Ahly had previously announced the signings of ENPPI duo Oktai Abdullah and Ali Mahmoud, alongside Moroccan striker Soufiane Ben Jdidou from Olympic Safi.
Ahly ended the previous Egyptian Premier League campaign in third place, trailing arch-rivals and champions Zamalek by three points.
