The new season will feature 20 clubs competing in a single-round first phase, with each team playing the other once.
The top six teams will then advance to a championship round, also played on a single-round basis, to determine the league winner.
Last season, the top seven teams advanced to the championship round before the EPL decided to reduce the number to six for the upcoming campaign.
The remaining 14 clubs will compete in a separate round to determine the four teams to be relegated.
Zamalek won the league last season, securing the club's 15th Egyptian league title.
Ismaily, Kahrabaa Ismailia, Haras El Hodoud and Pharco FC were relegated to the second division at the end of last season.
Promoted sides El Qanah, Asyut Petroleum and Abu Qir SC will compete in the top flight this season.
According to the EPL, the new campaign will begin on 20-21 August.
The league adopted its current format in the 2024-25 season as part of efforts to shorten the domestic calendar and bring it into line with the international football schedule.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Egyptian league has experienced repeated delays and postponements, resulting in extended seasons that disrupted clubs' schedules.
The EPL plans to return to the traditional format in the 2027-28 season, when 18 teams will compete in a double round competition.
