The 18-year-old scored both of Barcelona's goals, although Birmingham won the match on penalties after the draw.
"Amazing, of course. I'm really happy, and hopefully we can continue working and improving every match," Abdelkarim told Barcelona's official website after the game.
"We've been working every week to improve, and Birmingham were a tough team," he added.
Birmingham took the lead in the 31st minute before Abdelkarim equalized from the penalty spot three minutes before halftime.
The Egyptian striker put Barcelona ahead in the 60th minute with a close-range finish after reacting to a loose ball inside the box, but Birmingham equalized eight minutes later.
"They were really physical, and it was obvious on the pitch, but it was a good game," Abdelkarim said.
"As I told you, we're improving with every match. We're still a young team, so we're getting to know each other better on the pitch. It's about building confidence throughout the whole team."
Barcelona exercised their option to sign Abdelkarim permanently from Egyptian club Al Ahly after an impressive loan spell with the club's reserve side.
Abdelkarim, the first Egyptian player to join Barcelona, scored six goals in 11 appearances for the reserve team during his loan spell.
