The ministry said the reports were monitored by the National Emergency and Public Safety Network's Control Centre in coordination with governorates' operations rooms and field monitoring teams to assess the impact of the quake and ensure the safety of citizens and infrastructure.
According to the ministry, precautionary measures were immediately taken in all reported cases.
In Beheira Governorate, part of a balcony collapsed from an unoccupied two-storey old house at the entrance to Hosh Issa city, prompting local authorities to secure the area.
In Suez, authorities responded to the partial collapse of a ceiling inside a four-storey residential building on Nile Street.
In Gharbiya, stones fell from the top of an old building onto an electricity line in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, damaging a parked car but causing no injuries.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governorate received four reports involving old residential buildings. These included the collapse of sections of interior walls in an old building in Rod El-Farag district, cracks and structural damage to another property in El-Khalifa district, the partial collapse of part of a two-storey building, and reports of cracks in a building in El-Marg.
Following an inspection by an engineering committee, the El-Marg building was deemed structurally safe, allowing residents to return to their homes.
Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad directed authorities to maintain round-the-clock field monitoring, keep emergency operations centres on high alert, and continue coordinating with governorates and relevant ministries to respond swiftly to any developments and ensure public safety.
The ministry added that the National Emergency and Public Safety Network will continue monitoring the situation to ensure a rapid response to any emergency.
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck 38 kilometres east of Suez at 3:00:36 a.m. Cairo time on Monday, according to Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).
The tremor was felt across Greater Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, the Nile Delta, and several other governorates, prompting many residents to leave their homes as a precaution.
Authorities activated emergency response plans immediately after the quake.
While no casualties or major structural damage were reported, emergency teams remained on high alert, with the ministries of health and local development coordinating inspections and monitoring any reports of damage to ensure public safety.
