Returning for its 23rd edition, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Summer Festival presents a month-long programme of concerts, theatre, dance performances and cultural events, bringing together Egyptian and international artists across the library's performance spaces.
One of Alexandria's longest-running cultural festivals, the event showcases a diverse mix of music, stage productions and interdisciplinary performances, alongside workshops and activities designed to engage audiences of all ages. Held annually at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the festival has become a cornerstone of the city's summer cultural calendar.
Last days of Egypt National Theatre Festival

The 19th National Theatre Festival brings together productions from state, independent, university and private theatre companies under the slogan In All of Egypt.
Running until 11 August, this year's edition places a renewed emphasis on expanding theatre beyond Cairo, with Mansoura serving as the festival's principal city outside the capital and hosting workshops, seminars and performances alongside the main programme.
The festival features adaptations of international classics including King Lear, Crime and Punishment and Les Misérables, as well as new Egyptian productions staged across venues such as Al-Salam Theatre, Al-Ghad Theatre, Hanager Arts Centre and the Nihad Selaiha Theatre.
Alongside the performances, the programme includes seminars, workshops and a new forum exploring audience engagement, while actress and producer Essad Younes is among the artists honoured for their contributions to Egyptian theatre.
Black Theama – music

River Hall, El Sawy Culturewheel, Zamalek
Egyptian band Black Theama returns to El Sawy Culturewheel for an evening of contemporary music blending Nubian, reggae, jazz, rock and traditional Egyptian influences. The concert will feature a selection of the group's best-known songs alongside material from across its two-decade career.
Formed in 2004, Black Theama has become one of Egypt's most distinctive alternative bands, known for socially conscious lyrics and a genre-defying sound.
Amr Diab – music
Friday 7 August, 9pm
U Arena, New Alamein, North Coast
Egyptian pop icon Amr Diab returns to the North Coast for a live performance at U Arena, bringing his signature blend of Arabic pop and Mediterranean influences to one of the summer's biggest concerts.
Known as El Hadaba, Diab has remained one of the Arab world's most successful recording artists for decades, with a catalogue of hits including Tamally Ma'ak, Nour El Ain, Amarain and songs from his latest album, Habeitak.
His concerts are renowned for their high-energy atmosphere and draw thousands of fans each summer.

Sherine Abdel Wahab – music

New Alamein Festival, New Alamein
The announcement of her upcoming Alamein concert, shared through her official social media channels, was met with widespread enthusiasm from fans across the region.
Her return comes as part of a broader artistic revival she has carefully outlined in recent months through a series of new releases designed to reconnect with audiences and re-establish a consistent musical presence.
In April, she released El-Hodn Shouk (An Intense Embrace), a reflective romantic ballad written and composed by Aziz El-Shafie and arranged by Touma. Built around a restrained, emotional arrangement, the song revisits the expressive style that has defined many of Sherine's most celebrated recordings while highlighting her characteristically powerful vocal delivery.
On 8 May, she followed with Tebaa'n Tebaa'n, a classic Arabic pop ballad blending contemporary arrangements with the emotionally driven melodic phrasing long associated with her music. The song has since surpassed 63 million views on Sony Music Middle East's YouTube channel.

Tablet El-Sitt – music

Women's percussion ensemble Tablet El-Sitt takes the stage at Al Anfoushy Theatre for a concert celebrating the rich musical heritage of Egypt and the Arab world through rhythm-driven performances.
The programme revisits beloved classics dedicated to women, reinterpreted with a strong focus on percussion and traditional melodies.
Composed entirely of female percussionists, the ensemble aims to revive iconic songs that celebrate women's experiences while showcasing the expressive power of percussion.
Their performances blend heritage with contemporary arrangements, offering audiences a fresh take on some of the region's most enduring musical works.
Cairokee & Disco Misr – music

D-Bay, North Coast
Egyptian rock band Cairokee and electronic collective Disco Misr share the stage at D-Bay for a collaborative concert, bringing together alternative rock and dancefloor-ready remixes. The performance follows the release of Cairokee's seventh studio album, Supernova, which debuted in early August and marks the band's first full-length record since Roma (2022).
Cairokee are known for socially conscious rock anthems such as Ethbat Makanak, Ya El Midan and El Sekka Shemal, while Disco Misr have built a devoted following by reimagining Arabic classics through electronic, disco and funk-inspired arrangements. The concert is expected to feature material from Supernova alongside Cairokee's biggest hits and Disco Misr's signature retro mashups.

Casino Badi3a & Mawawil – music

All-female collective Casino Badi3a and folk ensemble Mawawil come together for an evening celebrating Egypt's rich musical heritage at Cairo Jazz Club 610.
While Casino Badi3a revives the atmosphere of Cairo's golden-age cabarets through theatrical performances and vintage songs, Mawawil showcases the country's folk traditions with mawwal singing, village melodies and oral storytelling.
Known for reinterpreting Egyptian classics with a contemporary theatrical approach, Casino Badi3a pays tribute to the performers and cabaret culture that shaped the country's entertainment scene in the early 20th century. Mawawil complements the programme with performances rooted in Egypt's traditional musical heritage, highlighting folk songs and narratives passed down through generations.
Jan Wouter – music
