The accident occurred as the workers were returning from a job as informal private contractors.
The injured were transferred to Al-Saff Central Hospital for treatment, while authorities worked to complete the process of identifying victims and confirming casualty figures.
Egypt's Labour Ministry said it was following developments in coordination with the relevant executive bodies and authorities. It directed the Central Administration for Informal Labour and the Giza Labour Directorate to coordinate immediately with concerned parties and follow the situation on the ground.
Moreover, the ministry instructed officials to provide any required documentation to determine whether the workers are eligible for receiving the social care and protection benefits provided by the ministry to informal workers.
In a report published in June, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that road accident deaths in Egypt rose by 10.8 percent in 2025 to 5,829, up from 5,260 in 2024. Similarly, injuries from road accidents increased by 10.7 percent to 84,553, up from 76,362 in 2024.
