The Red Devils confirmed the news across their official social media channels, posting a farewell message: "Thank you Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane... We wish you good luck in the upcoming period."
The 26-year-old underwent medical examinations earlier this week ahead of a move to Al-Shamal, with reports indicating the Qatari side have reached a $1.7 million agreement with Ahly to buy out the remainder of his contract.
Ben Romdhane joined Ahly in the summer of 2025 from Hungarian club Ferencváros on a four-year contract as part of a high-profile recruitment drive ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
However, the midfielder struggled to secure a regular starting spot or replicate the commanding form that previously made his name at Espérance de Tunis.
During his time with the Tunisian powerhouse, he won five domestic league titles and back-to-back CAF Champions League trophies in 2018 and 2019, before claiming a Hungarian league title with Ferencváros.
The Tunisian international made 36 appearances across all competitions during his tenure with Ahly, contributing two goals and four assists while helping the club capture the Egyptian Super Cup following a 2-0 victory over archrivals Zamalek in September 2025.
On the international stage, Ben Romdhane has earned 59 caps for Tunisia, scoring seven goals.
