The discussion came as part of the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee, held in the capital N’Djamena, with the participation of several ministers, officials and representatives of the business communities from Egypt and Chad sides,
The Egyptian delegation included Sameh Mohamed Fawzy, Chairman of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and Captain Karim Gamil, Adviser to the Chairman of the Authority and Director General of Agreements.
The talks included a meeting with Fatima Goukouni Weddeye, Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and National Meteorology of the Republic of Chad, which addressed facilitating operational procedures and tackling challenges facing airlines in both countries, in addition to exploring opportunities to develop air traffic between the two sides.
The Egyptian delegation also held talks with the Chairman of the Chadian Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant working team.
The discussions covered mechanisms for expanding passenger and cargo operations and enhancing direct coordination between the two civil aviation authorities to swiftly address any operational obstacles.
The talks resulted in an agreement to increase the operating capacities allocated for passenger transport by 100 percent, effectively doubling them, in addition to increasing air cargo capacities by 125 percent.
As part of efforts to support cooperation, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of civil aviation, establishing frameworks for cooperation and the exchange of expertise, while supporting the development of the air transport system and expanding areas of cooperation between institutions and companies operating in the aviation sector in both countries.
