Released on YouTube and across music streaming platforms, the track was also teased on Abdelhalim’s social media, including Instagram, where she has 2.5 million followers. It combines electronic production with lyrics in formal Arabic and a contemporary visual treatment filmed in the Egyptian desert.
Man Ana? explores the idea of an internal dialogue, moving between seemingly opposing states of strength and surrender, doubt and certainty. Its lyrics centre on questions of identity, desire, and the search for happiness, ultimately arriving at the repeated question: “Who am I?” The song closes with the answer: “I am human.”
The track was produced and arranged by Egyptian DJ and electronic music producer Mo Amer.
According to Abdelhalim, the collaboration developed around her interest in electronic music and her own artistic vision. Amer subsequently suggested using literary Arabic, with lyrics penned by Seif El-Khawanky, as a way of giving greater weight to the song’s themes and meanings.
“Man Ana? is a visual experience that goes beyond the traditional music video format,” Abdelhalim said, describing the release as an exploration of a different space of vocal and performance expression.
The accompanying video reflects the song’s introspective character through a vivid, realistic visual style set against the Egyptian desert. Abdelhalim said she wanted her appearance to correspond with the particular artistic atmosphere of the track while complementing the landscape in which it was filmed.
Man Ana? follows Abdelhalim’s debut solo single Ala Fein, released earlier this summer, and comes after her 2025 duet Sohab El Leil with Egyptian singer Abdelrahman Roshdy.
The three releases mark a gradual expansion of Abdelhalim’s artistic work from acting into music.
From theatre to screen and music
Abdelhalim is primarily known as an Egyptian actress, with a career rooted in theatre before expanding into television and film.
She gained early recognition on the Egyptian theatre scene and received the Best Actress award at the 2015 National Theatre Festival for her performance in Hena Antigone (Antigone Is Here).
Her screen career subsequently included appearances in Egyptian television dramas and films, establishing her as part of a younger generation of Egyptian performers moving between theatre, television, and cinema.
Her theatrical background is particularly relevant to her current musical direction. She is now beginning to establish a parallel musical identity, experimenting with electronic sound and Arabic-language songwriting while retaining the performance-based approach associated with her acting career.
