A cabinet statement noted that El-Sisi also directed authorities to complete all legal procedures related to the accident accurately and fully as soon as possible and to provide regular updates on developments in the case.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Tuesday directed Labour Minister Hassan Raddad to disburse compensation from the Irregular Employment Fund to the victims of the accident, in accordance with the fund’s regulations.
Raddad told the prime minister that he was following developments and the conditions of those injured in coordination with the Labour Ministry’s Central Administration for Irregular Employment and the Ismailia Labour Directorate.
The minister said the ministry was working to quickly collect and complete official data and information in coordination with the relevant authorities to establish the circumstances of the accident and determine the number of victims and injured workers.
He added that the ministry was taking the necessary measures to provide support, protection and assistance to the families of those killed and the injured workers in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
Compensation doubled for victims’ families
Earlier on Tuesday, Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy ordered the doubling of compensation allocated to the families of those killed in the accident, in implementation of El-Sisi’s directives.
Morsy and Raddad have directed their ministries to urgently gather comprehensive information on the victims and provide the necessary assistance.
The ministries will also provide aid to injured workers according to the severity of their injuries and the medical reports documenting their conditions.
The accident
The crash occurred near the Al-Dawawis area in Al-Tal El-Kebir, Ismailia Governorate, when two vehicles carrying daily-wage workers collided.
The workers were reportedly travelling to their jobs when the accident occurred. Initial reports said most of the victims were residents of Old Salhiya and Al-Azazi villages in neighbouring Sharqiya Governorate.
The injured were transferred to Qassasin Central Hospital for treatment, while authorities continued compiling information on the victims and assessing the conditions of those injured.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar is closely monitoring the medical response and treatment of the injured, the Health Ministry said.
The ministry’s crisis and emergency operations room is following developments in coordination with the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the Ismailia Health Directorate.
“The state of readiness at hospitals has been raised,” Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said, adding that medical teams, medicines and essential supplies had been made available.
The minister directed healthcare providers to provide the injured with the highest level of medical care and to monitor their conditions continuously.
Security forces and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene, while authorities launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash and to determine responsibility.
Road fatalities in Egypt rose by 10.8 percent to 5,829 in 2025, while injuries increased by 10.7 percent to 84,553, according to figures from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Children under 15 recorded the highest casualty toll among all age groups, with 1,580 deaths and 29,101 injuries in 2025.
