The decline in temperatures will affect Greater Cairo, the northern coast and North Upper Egypt, while particularly hot conditions will persist in Upper Egypt, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA)
Temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 31–32°C along the northern coast, 36–37°C in Greater Cairo and the Delta, 37–41°C in North Upper Egypt and up to 43°C in South Upper Egypt.
Early mornings will be mild to warm and humid, followed by very hot and humid weather during the day.
Nights will remain warm and humid, particularly along the northern coast, according to the EMA.
The Meteorological Authority noted that high humidity levels will increase the perceived temperature by around 2–4°C compared with the actual temperature measured in the shade.
Morning mist is expected on several roads leading to and from northern parts of the country, including Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, central Sinai and North Upper Egypt.
The mist could become dense at times, potentially reducing visibility on some roads.
Intermittent wind activity is also expected from Thursday through Monday, particularly at intervals throughout the day.
The summer heatwave has pushed the country’s electricity demand to record levels, with the national grid reaching a peak load of 40,000 megawatts on Tuesday, driven by widespread use of air conditioning.
