In a message marking International Youth Day, President El-Sisi described Egypt’s youth as “the strength of our nation and the architects of its future," highlighting their ideas, creativity and participation as key to the country’s development.
“I directed the National Training Academy, in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other relevant state bodies, to establish the platform under my auspices.”
The platform will provide young Egyptians with a space to put forward ideas and initiatives, while encouraging participation in community service and promoting volunteerism, a sense of belonging and national responsibility.
Egypt’s youth population hit 21.3 million in 2025, accounting for 19.9 percent of the total population, according to the country’s statistics agency CAPMAS.
Adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 1998, International Youth Day is observed annually on 12 August to celebrate the energy, creativity, and role of young people in shaping the future.
This year, the UN is marking the day with a global observance centred on this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”, highlighting young people’s shared aspirations, common challenges and role in driving innovative solutions.
