During a phone call, both sides discussed ways to strengthen the Egyptian-Pakistani ties, affirming their keenness to continue joint efforts to advance bilateral cooperation across various political, economic, trade, and investment fields.
Abdelatty and Dar also exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation in the security and defense fields, serving the common interests and strengthening the bonds of cooperation.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the call also addressed several regional issues and efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring calm, as well as regional security arrangements.
Abdelatty and Dar affirmed their shared commitment to continuing consultations and coordination between the two countries, particularly within the framework of the regional quartet, which comprises Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, to support regional stability and security.
The call between Abdelatty and Dar comes as Cairo and Pakistan continue to strengthen collaboration on ways to de-escalate regional conflicts and boost regional stability, both bilaterally and also through the R4 mechanism with Ankara and Riyadh.
It comes on the heels of a visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Egypt on Thursday, where he discussed regional developments and ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Cairo to support regional security and stability with FM Abdelatty in Alamein.
During a presser after meeting with Fidan, the Egyptian FM said Cairo is studying the Mecca Defense Agreement, signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan on 7 August, from legal and constitutional perspectives before deciding whether to join it.
"Defence agreements require careful study before taking any position on them," FM Abdelatty noted at the presser, stressing that their legal and constitutional implications must be fully examined.
Later on Thursday, the Egyptian FM hosted a trilateral meeting with his Saudi and Turkish counterparts, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud and Hakan Fidan, in Alamein to discuss regional developments.
