The 26-year-old’s arrival comes as Ahly seek to bolster their defensive options following the injury to Moroccan full-back Youssef Belammari, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
“Ahly have completed the signing of Petrojet left-back Tawfik Mohamed on a five-year contract,” the club said in a statement. “Essam Serageldin, the club’s head of recruitment, finalised all the financial and administrative procedures in full coordination with football director Wael Gomaa.”
Tawfik became Al Ahly’s seventh summer signing, following Akram Tawfik, Ali Mahmoud, Mahmoud Salah, Aqtay Abdallah, Soufiane Bendjedid, and Monsef Bekrar.
Media reports indicate the transfer fee is EGP 32 million, split into two installments, with EGP 20 million upfront and EGP 12 million later.
TawfiK Mohamed has played for Petrojet since 2022, making 31 appearances for the club last season and providing one assist.
Overall, the left-back has made 55 appearances in domestic competitions, the league, Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup, and has contributed two assists.
Ahly will kick off their league campaign against Al Sharqiya Enppi at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, 23 August.
