The shipment included over 1,322 tonnes of food parcels and flour, around 428 tonnes of relief supplies, medical equipment, and medicines, and more than 1,929 tonnes of fuel needed to operate hospitals and other vital facilities across the strip.
The convoy was dispatched as part of the ERC’s role as Egypt’s national mechanism for coordinating and delivering humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
The ERC said it has maintained a presence along the border since the outbreak of Israel's war on Gaza in October 2023 and kept its logistics centres on high alert, stressing that the Rafah crossing has never been closed from the Egyptian side.
Egypt’s overall humanitarian and relief deliveries to Gaza have surpassed one million tonnes, supported by more than 75,000 ERC volunteers.
Sunday’s shipment follows the dispatch of the 256th convoy on Thursday, which carried more than 58,000 food parcels, 187 tonnes of flour, 771 tonnes of medical and relief supplies, and 1,362 tonnes of fuel. On the same day, Egypt received the 74th group of wounded and sick Palestinians evacuated from Gaza for treatment.
The latest convoy comes amid a continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Around 1.6 million Palestinians face high levels of food insecurity or worse, while more than 100,000 children under five are projected to suffer acute malnutrition in 2026, according to the International Rescue Committee. Only slightly more than half of Gaza’s hospitals remain partially operational.
Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,388 Palestinians and injured 174,259 others, most of them women and children, per the Palestinian health ministry.
