Hot and humid conditions will prevail across most of Egypt through Friday, while South Sinai and southern parts of the country remain very hot.
Cairo will reach 35C on Monday before easing to 34C from Tuesday to Thursday, then climbing back to 35C on Friday. Overnight temperatures will remain between 23C and 24C.
The northern coast will provide the coolest conditions, with daytime highs of 30C to 32C. But humidity could reach 90 percent, making the seaside air considerably stickier than the thermometer suggests.
The real heat will remain in Upper Egypt. Southern areas are forecast to reach 42C on Monday, easing to 40C on Tuesday and Wednesday before rising to 41C on Thursday and Friday. North Upper Egypt will see highs of 36C to 37C.
South Sinai and the Red Sea mountain region will remain sunny and very hot, with temperatures reaching 37C to 38C through the week.
For early risers and motorists, morning mist could prove more troublesome than the heat. It is expected on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt, Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, central Sinai, and North Upper Egypt, and could become dense enough in places to reduce visibility.
Northwesterly winds will bring occasional relief to several areas, particularly Greater Cairo, South Sinai, and southern Egypt. But nights will remain warm and humid across the country.
So, for Cairo, it is a one-degree breather rather than a proper cool-down; the North Coast gets the lowest temperatures; and Upper Egypt gets little respite from summer's fiercest heat.
