Emirati side Bani Yas have punished Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan after medical scans showed he had no reason to back out of the match with Ittihad Kalba.
“Bani Yas fined Zidan after he claimed an injury that was proved to be false,” Emirati newspaper Al-Ittihad reported Tuesday.
The 30-year-old forward missed out on the 2-0 victory over Ittihad Kalba in the United Arab Emirates League, saying he had of a knee injury, despite appearing fit in training.
The Port Said-born footballer, who was hit with a hamstring injury early this season, made some impressive performances after recovering, including scoring two goals.
Zidan joined the Emirati outfit in summer after spending 12 years in Europe playing for Borussia Dortmund and Mainz in the Bundesliga.
