Goals for Oussama Assaidi and Maroune Chamakh helped their sides pull in three points in the English Premier League at the weekend.
Assaidi scored a dramatic late winner for Stoke against Chelsea, while Chamakh scored the second goal for Crystal Palace in the 2-0 win over Cardiff.
In France, Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was finally beaten, conceding his first goal in 1,062 minutes of play for Lille - ironically an own-goal by Simon Kjaer.
ENGLAND
GUY DEMEL (West Ham)
The Ivory Coast defender was on the scoresheet last weekend -- but at the wrong end -- as the Hammers lost 4-1 in a match featuring three own-goals. Shortly before half-time he gave Liverpool the lead when, after Jussi Jaaskelainen saved a Luis Suarez shot, Demel inadvertently bundled the rebound over his own line.
CHEICK TIOTE (Newcastle)
Led a committed defensive performance as Newcastle defeated reigning champions Manchester United 1-0 -- their first win at Old Trafford since 1972. The Ivorian also released eventual goalscorer Yohan Cabaye before the France midfielder dragged a shot wide and Tiote proved his worth going forward with a strike that went over the crossbar.
OUSSAMA ASSAIDI (Stoke)
The Moroccan proved an inspired substitution by manager Mark Hughes, with a dramatic late winner as Stoke beat Premier League title-contenders Chelsea 3-2. He'd only been on the pitch five minutes when he turned Branislav Ivanovic on the edge of the area before striking an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Petr Cech.
MAROUANE CHAMAKH (Crystal Palace)
Another Moroccan making his mark on the Premier League, he scored his second goal in two games as Palace defeated Cardiff 2-0 to bolster their fight against relegation. The former Arsenal striker sealed Palace's victory with their second goal shortly before the hour mark when he he chested down a header from Ben Turner following a cross by Barry Bannan and scored.
ITALY
KWADWO ASAMOAH (Juventus)
With one eye on Tuesday's Champions League clash away to Galatasaray, Juventus coach Antonio Conte kept Asamoah on the bench until late in the second half of their 2-0 trip to Bologna. The Ghana striker, however, made an immediate impact shortly after replacing Federico Peluso in the 67th minute, scoring what would have been Juve's second only to be ruled offside.
SAPHIR TAIDER (Inter)
Algerian international Taider started Inter's home match against Parma on the bench, with Mateo Kovacic being given a chance to show his wares from the start. Taider was only called off the bench, with two minutes remaining, in a bid to bolster Inter's bid for a late winner after Parma's Nicola Sansone had scored his second of the game to level at 3-3 on the hour.
FRANCE
VINCENT ENYEAMA (Lille)
The Nigerian goalkeeper's run of not conceding a goal ended after 1,062 minutes with an own goal by Lille team-mate Simon Kjaer in the Ligue 1 clash with Bordeaux. The Danish defender deflected a harmless looking shot by Bordeaux' Landry N'Guemo which tantalisingly hit the post before entering the net in the 28th minute of the match. Lille went on to lose the game 1-0.
TONGO DOUMBIA (Valenciennes)
The Mali midfielder, on loan from English side Wolves, headed his team into the lead at home to Guingamp in the 18th minute from a free-kick. Gunigamp levelled for a 1-1 draw in the 70th minute to leave Valenciennes in 18th place with just 11 points.
GERMANY
ASSANI LUKIMYA (Werder Bremen)
Congo DR defender had a bad day at the office with an own goal from a Franck Ribery cross to give away the first goal in Bayern Munich's 7-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen, the hosts heaviest Bundesliga defeat. Lukimya stuck out his leg to clear the dangerous cross, but the ball sliced off his boot and into the Bremen goal on 21 minutes as the floodgates opened on Saturday.
SALIF SANE (Hanover 96)
Senegal centre-back Sane scored his second goal in the Hanover shirt when he netted his team's second in their 4-2 defeat at VfB Stuttgart as they dropped to 12th in the table. The 23-year-old headed home with half an hour gone to give his side a 2-1 lead, but Stuttgart roared back with three goals without replay to inflict Hanover's seventh defeat in their last 10 games.
IBRAHIMA TRAORE (VfB Stuttgart)
The Guinea midfielder finished off a great counter-attack with a shot in the bottom left corner to score Stuttgart's third goal in their 4-2 victory at home to Hanover 96. With the scores level, Traore sprinted in support of ex-Dortmund midfielder Moritz Leitner's break as Stuttgart picked up only their second win in five games to go tenth in the table.
SPAIN
JEAN-MARIE DONGOU (Barcelona)
Cameroonian teenager Dongou made his senior Barcelona debut and scored as the Catalans came from behind to beat Cartagena 4-1 in the Copa del Rey on Friday. The 18-year-old replaced Alexis Sanchez with 12 minutes to go and was on hand to tap home the visitors' fourth goal after Pedro Rodrguez's effort had come off the post.
ODION IGHALO (Granada)
Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scored just his second and third goals of the season as Granada eased towards the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a 2-0 first leg win away to Alcorcon. Ighalo turned home Fran Rico's free-kick to give the Andalusians' a half-time lead before beating two defenders and firing home to ensure the win 10 minutes from time.
RICHMOND BOAKYE (Elche)
Boakye scored his fourth goal of the season as Elche claimed a credible 2-2 draw away to La Liga high-flyers Villarreal in the Copa del Rey on Friday. The Ghanaian headed home to give the visitors a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes to go, but Javier Aquino's late equaliser leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg on December 17.
RUSSIA
IBRAHIM BALDE (Kuban Krasnodar)
The Senegalese forward was the main driving force of his team's attack against Anzhi Makhachkala. But the 24-year-old striker failked to find he net in a match that ended in a goalless draw.
MAJEED WARRIS (Spartak Moscow)
The Ghanian forward came on as a substiture in the 68th minute of the match with Rostov. In what was just his fourth Russian Premier League encounter, Warris was the match winner in the 88th minute firing under the crossbar from close range from Kim Kallstrom's corner.
