Directed and choreographed by Walid Aouni, the dance performance entitled 'Mahmoud Mokhtar' was among the festivities that closed this year's Aswan International Sculpture Symposium.

Mahmoud Mokhtar (1891-1934) was an iconic Egyptian sculptor and one of the pioneers of the Egyptian modern art movement.

In it's 20th edition, the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium ran between 18 January and 8 March.

The closing ceremony, which took place last Friday, 6 March, saw in attendance many important figures of the Egyptian culture scene, including newly appointed Minister of Culture Abdel Wahed Al-Nabawy.
