Yasser Ibrahim

Despite his 33 years, the Ahly defender is set for a maiden World Cup appearance, with the tournament representing only the second major international competition of his career after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Born in 1993, Ibrahim joined Ahly in 2019, where he has enjoyed the most successful period of his career. He is regarded as an experienced and generally reliable defender, Ibrahim has endured a mixed campaign this season.
While his leadership and aerial strength remain valuable assets, a series of uncharacteristic lapses and inconsistent performances have occasionally exposed vulnerabilities in Ahly's backline.
He earned his senior Egypt debut at the age of 29 under Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, appearing in a 1-0 defeat by Senegal in a World Cup qualifying playoff.
Under coach Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim has become a regular member of the national squad. The defender, who has made 18 appearances for the Pharaohs (until before the World Cup), featured in six matches during Egypt's run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite questions over his club form, Ibrahim has retained Hassan's confidence, playing in Egypt's four World Cup warm-up matches against Saudi Arabia, Spain, Russia and Brazil this year.
