Mostafa Ahmed Shobeir

Mostafa Shobeir has established himself as one the most reliable keepers both club and country.

Son of former Egypt keeper, Ahmed Shobeir, Mostafa has progressed from youth levels of Ahly into the first-team environment, positioning himself as part of the club’s long-term goalkeeping succession plan.

Shobeir, 26, has often operated in a competitive role behind established starter Mohamed El-Shenawy, but has increasingly been trusted in domestic fixtures and cup competitions, reflecting growing confidence in his development and consistency. He led Ahly to the African Champions League title in 2024 keeping a clean sheet in nine games including the finals.

At international level, Shobier has recently broken into the Egypt starting line-up under coach Hossam Hassan, featuring in the team’s latest three friendlies against Saudi Arabia, Spain and Russia respectively.

Shobeir is recognised for his sharp reflexes, shot-stopping ability and composure under pressure, attributes that have helped him step into high-intensity matches when called upon.

Now entering a key phase of his career, Shobeir is viewed as part of the next generation of Egyptian goalkeepers aiming to bridge the gap between established senior figures and the future core of both Ahly and the national team.
