Alaa has been one of the important performers of the season, with a series of assured displays for ZED FC earning him a first call-up to Egypt's squad for a March training camp, just three months before the World Cup.
The 24-year-old caught the eye of coach Hossam Hassan with his balanced contributions at both ends of the pitch, combining defensive discipline with attacking intent down the right flank.
Alaa made his international debut as a second-half substitute in Egypt's 4-0 friendly victory over Saudi Arabia on 27 March.
He subsequently made substitute appearances in the 1-0 win over Russia on 28 May and the 2-1 defeat by Brazil in Egypt's final World Cup warm-up match.
While Mohamed Hany remains Hassan's first-choice right-back, Alaa has emerged as a dependable understudy and could provide valuable depth for Egypt during the World Cup campaign.
