Haissem Hassan

Haissem Hassan represents both one of Egypt’s most promising attacking talents and one of the Egyptian Football Association’s most significant recent successes in securing the allegiance of dual-nationality players.

Born and raised in France and also eligible to represent Tunisia, the winger opted to play for Egypt and made his international debut in March.

The Real Oviedo player offers a profile that is relatively rare in the national team setup, combining pace, dribbling ability and a willingness to take on defenders in one-on-one situations. His work rate off the ball and defensive contribution also make him a valuable option for coach Hossam Hassan.

Hassan enjoyed a consistent season with the Spanish club, making 37 appearances. His attacking returns were modest, however, as he finished the campaign with three assists and no goals.

In an Egypt shirt, he reflects the growing contribution of the diaspora to the national team and the federation’s efforts to rejuvenate the squad. Ahead of the World Cup, he had earned four caps and shown encouraging signs in each of his appearances.

His performances have already generated considerable excitement among Egyptian supporters, with some viewing him as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah on the right flank. While the comparison is flattering, the challenge remains significant for a player still at the beginning of his international career.
