Qualification: Following a two-stage campaign, Haiti sealed qualification by finishing top of their decisive third round group — despite being unable to play home matches on their own soil against Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua due to the political turmoil engulfing the country at the time.
Coach: The Haitian national team has been led since 2024 by Frenchman Sébastien Migné (53), who spent around 15 years as an assistant in France alongside Jean-Pierre Papin (Lens, Strasbourg) and then principally Claude Le Roy in Africa (Oman, DR Congo, Togo), before becoming a head coach with Congo, Kenya, and Equatorial Guinea. Haiti's remarkable World Cup qualification is his greatest achievement to date.
Star player: Striker Duckens Nazon is a football nomad. He began his career in France — whose nationality he also holds — playing for Laval after coming through at Lorient, before representing clubs in India, England, Belgium, Scotland, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Iran, which he recently left due to the war. All roads lead him back to Haiti, where he often plays the hero — as in September 2025 when his hat-trick sparked a stunning comeback (3–3 after trailing 2–0) against Costa Rica in qualifying. With 44 goals in 74 international appearances, he is just three short of the all-time Haitian scoring record held by Emmanuel Sanon.
Ambitions: Coach Migné says "the first objective will be to pick up Haiti's first ever point at a World Cup finals," with a private dream of reaching the Round of 16. The task looks daunting in a group that includes Brazil and Morocco alongside Scotland. "I expect the players to show generosity, team spirit, and to present the best possible image. This is a wonderful showcase for Haiti, and opportunities like this don't come around often," he said.
