According to the Health Directorate in Alexandria, 56 people, mostly children, were rushed to the hospital after they suffocated as a result of inhaling chlorine gas that leaked from a swimming pool at a club in the district of  Sporting.

None of those who suffocated were transferred to the ICU. 

According to news reports, the leak happened while the children were attending swimming training along with their parents and trainers.

Following the incident, the prosecution in Alexandria began to investigate the reasons behind the leak, giving orders to close the club until further notice.
