British Prime Minister Theresa May urged parliament on Friday to back her divorce deal with the European Union, saying it was the only way for parliament to guarantee Brexit would happen.

In a speech where she highlighted her decision to offer her resignation in return for support for the so-called Withdrawal Agreement, May told lawmakers:

"I remain committed to the United Kingdom leaving the European Union ... This is the last opportunity to guarantee Brexit." "So I say to members this - if you want to deliver Brexit this is the moment."

"If you are passionate about making sure that the United Kingdom leaves the European Union back this motion ... It's the right thing for our country."
