One protester was killed in Alexandria on Friday in clashes between supporters and opponents of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

According to Osama Abu El-Sooud, director of Alexandria University's main hospital, the slain protester had succumbed to birdshot injuries.

Abu El-Sooud added that the slain protester's identity remained unclear.

The clashes in Egypt's second city, which broke out on Friday afternoon, have left 70 injured so far, head of emergency services in Alexandria Amr Nasr told state news agency MENA.

A security source told MENA that at least two police officers had also been injured in the clashes.

Ongoing unrest in Alexandria also saw the torching of offices belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party in the coastal city's Sidi Gaber district.

Clashes between the rival camps have also recently erupted in several Egyptian governorates, including Gharbiya, Daqahlia, Beheira and Kafr Al-Sheikh.

In Cairo, meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of protesters have gathered at Nasr City's Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque in support of the president, while thousands of anti-Morsi protesters have marched to Tahrir Square to demand the president's ouster.
