Deputy Health Minister Sabry Ghoneim referred on Sunday the doctors and hospital head accused last month in the death of scriptwriter Nadine Shams to the Doctors' Syndicate disciplinary committee.

Shams died on 22 March when a sharp decline in her health followed a surgery conducted on her days ahead in a private Cairo hospital.

Her husband, Nabil El-Qott, accused the doctors of having committed a surgical error during the procedure and the hospital of negligence, leading to Shams' death.

The two doctors who conducted the surgery have denied the accusations.

Shams' family filed new evidence and testimonies to the general prosecution on Monday.
