Eid Mubarak: 9-14 April paid holiday for Eid Al-Fitr in Egypt

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that public employees will enjoy a six-day break, including the weekend, from Tuesday 9 April to Sunday 14 April to celebrate the Muslim feast of Eid Al-Fitr.

According to astronomical calculations, this year, Ramadan in Egypt and other countries lasts 30 days with Eid Al-Fitr starting Wednesday.

However, the exact starting date will be officially determined by Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta after sighting the Shawwal crescent following the Maghrib prayer on Tuesday.

This holiday applies to employees in ministries, government institutions, public authorities, local administration units, and companies in the public and public enterprise sectors.

Ministry of Labour is expected to announce the Eid Al-Fitr holiday for private-sector employees.

In a long-standing tradition, Muslims, men, women, and children, perform the Eid prayers in mosques and open spaces.

The Eid prayers start at 6 am.
