The Egyptian FA's referees' committee has presented its resignation to the association's board in the wake of Ahly's request to assign foreign referees for their domestic league games.

Ahly was far from satisfied with the referee's performance in their recent 1-1 Egyptian league draw with Petrojet, who were awarded a debatable penalty to equalise after falling down to a Saad Samir goal.

As a result, the Cairo giants officially requested the FA to assign foreign referees for their remaining league games starting with the derby clash with Zamalek, after holding Egyptian referees responsible for their lost points this season.

But the referees' committee did not agree with Ahly's recent stance, stressing that no-one could question the integrity of their referees 'who have always been impartial'.

It remains to be seen how the FA will react to the committee's resignation, having already refused Ahly's request to allow foreign referees to officiate their domestic games other than the Zamalek derby.

It's not the first time for Ahly to launch a scathing attack against the referees this season, having adopted a similar stance following a goalless draw with Assiouty Sport months ago.
