Egypt's Olympic football team coach Shawky Gharib has announced the 28-man squad for two friendly matches against Saudi Arabia this month, as part of the Young Pharaohs’ preparatory camp at home.

The team will play their Saudi counterparts on 7 and 10 September amid preparations for the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Egypt in November.

The tournament will determine the three African teams to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan.

September's preparatory camp will kick off on Sunday and will last until Tuesday 10 September.

Ahly winger Ramadan Sobhi was the prominent name in the squad listed on Saturday, alongside left-winger Omar Marmoush, who currently plays for German side Wolfsburg II.

Former Egypt boss Gharib was appointed Olympic team coach for a second spell in January last year.

His main task is to see Egypt qualify for Tokyo 2020 after the team missed the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro.

The Egyptian team last took part in the Olympic Games in 2012, reaching the quarterfinals before losing 3-0 to Japan in Manchester.
